2010
is the third year for the Chimney Watch program. We have already
learned a great deal about Chimney Swifts throughout the eastern US.
Most importantly, in our North Carolina study site, there is a
disturbingly high rate of chimney capping with 14 percent of all
available nesting chimneys being capped in a single year. During 2010,
we plan to continue to monitor chimney capping rates and expand our
efforts to include research into important habitats for chimney swift
feeding.
